I didn't pass one of the courses required for my degree and I was crushed.

Let me take you back....

As a kid I took easily to math (yes, I know, total nerd 🤓 😜) and excelled in all my classes growing up. (Except that ONE 'B' in AP Calculus I! 🤌🏽)

Since I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, I decided to get a B.A. in Mathematics. It was easy for me and would give me time & space to explore other things and find myself. (And explore I did! But that's a story for another time... 😁)

Everything was going well until I hit that theory class senior year. 😳 It was the last required course. I had never taken a theory or logic course and I was lost.

*cue internal monologue*

"Why am I writing proofs proving that numbers exist? They just do! And also, WHY AM I WRITING IN A MATH CLASS?!"

*back to reality*

Because I didn't pass AND it was only offered once per academic year AND your girl didn't come from money, I was going to have to do another full year to get that financial aid. 🙃 Next time around I got a tutor and was able to pass. 💪🏾

I share this story to say, sometimes you just don't know what you don't know. If you're like me, you don't have a degree in business; and if that's the case, how could you expect to know how to run it? For me, I didn't have previous experience that would have helped me in that course. I thought that what I knew and could figure out on my own would be enough. But once I discovered that wasn't the case, I sought out a guide to support me through that process, especially since the stakes were already high (having to stay an additional year) AND would become higher (I wouldn't earn my degree).

So if you find yourself entering new territory in your business, then take it from me: seek out help.
